Positive Energy and Helpful Information Await Wellness Seekers at “CONNECTIONS TO WELLNESS” EXPO, April 6

Vienna, VA – A sold-out exhibitor space, everyone’s favorite Superheros, and scores of health, wellness and fitness experts are energized and excited about this weekend’s Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2024 in Vienna, VA. The April 6 event runs from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center. This year’s theme – CONNECTIONS TO WELLNESS – will deliver on its message, as there are more than 50 exhibitors who will share information about services and activities dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve optimal wellness.

The event is hosted by the Vienna Business Association (VBA) and is Free to the public. Event sponsors include: Advanced Pediatrics, babycito, Be Hive Wellness, Body Fit Training, Body Grace Fitness & Yoga, Club Studio, ComForCare, Elements Massage, Gazette Leader, Merrifield Garden Center, Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council, Town of Vienna, United Healthcare, and Virginia University of Integrative Medicine.

VBA’s Health and Wellness Committee chair Karen Kerrigan said a wide range of informative content and demos are planned to help individuals pursue and achieve their health and wellness goals. Kerrigan said:

“From kids activities and resources for families, to health and wellness tools for adults and seniors, the Expo will connect attendees to a wide array of businesses and organizations that support individuals on their holistic journey to wellness.”

A presentation is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. by Dr. David Gustitus on “Identifying the Drivers of Chronic Illness.” In addition, a “Positivity in Youth Sports” panel will feature former VYI and local high school athletes who played at the collegiate level (two went pro). They will touch upon the physical, mental health, leadership and resiliency outcomes that are derived from participating in competitive sports. (Read more about these presentations here.)

Vienna, VA - On April 6, the Vienna Business Association (VBA) is hosting its 2nd Annual Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2024. Connections to Wellness – this year’s theme – features a cross-section of more than fifty Vienna-Oakton area businesses and organizations that support an integrated approach – fitness and movement, emotional health and mindfulness, social engagement and purpose, and overall physical health – to help individuals of all ages achieve wellness through a healthy lifestyle and connections. The FREE event takes place at the Vienna Community Center in Vienna, VA from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

“This year’s Expo is shaping up to be an action-packed, informative and fun event,” said Karen Kerrigan, Chair of the VBA’s Health, Wellness and Fitness Committee. She added, “For individuals and families interested in learning more about pursuing a healthy lifestyle and wellness, our exhibitors are excited about sharing information and resources to help them achieve these health and wellness goals. VBA to Host 2nd Annual GET HEALTHY VIENNA! Expo 2024 on April 6

Vienna, VA – The Vienna-Oakton community is abundant in businesses that meet the health, wellness, fitness, and social engagement needs of our local residents. On April 6, the Vienna Business Association (VBA) will showcase a cross-section of these businesses and organizations at the 2nd Annual Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2024. This year’s theme - Connections to Wellness – is a fitting message, according to event organizers, as connecting to the resources and services that help one achieve a healthy lifestyle along with sustaining connections through social engagement are essential to achieving optimal wellness.

 

Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2024 runs from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 at the Vienna Community Center.

 

​“Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2024 is designed to help our community members understand the exceptional and accessible resources and activities that are available to individuals and families,” said VBA Health, Wellness & Fitness chair Karen Kerrigan. “The 2024 Expo will connect attendees to an array of services, solutions and opportunities that promote wellness and healthy lifestyles. The process of attaining optimal health and wellness is all about connections, education and taking positive action. I am excited about the wide-array of exhibitors at this year’s expo who are passionate about supporting the health and wellness of our special community.”

Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2024 will feature up to 50 exhibitors who will share information about the services and products that their businesses or organizations provide. This year’s Expo will feature a Kids and Families Zone, which will include children’s activities and demonstrations throughout the day. There will be a special appearance by various Superheroes, courtesy of the Vienna Singing Princesses, face-paintings, and health-related activities for kids. Moreover, an adult section will include a robust variety of health and wellness providers, and special presentations throughout the day. 

 

Several presentations have been confirmed, including a panel of former local youth athletes who competed at the college and professional levels that will discuss the importance of a positive youth sports experience in promoting health, mental health and overall success as an adult. The panel: “The Importance of a Positive Youth Sports Experience: Lessons for Young Athletes and Their Parents” includes various former Vienna-Oakton standout athletes such as:

Nick Dorka: James Madison H.S. – FOOTBALL: College of William and Mary, Canadian Football League, International Football League

Katie Kerrigan: James Madison H.S. – LACROSSE, James Madisson University, DI National Champions (2018), Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL)

Trey Ramsey: PVI/James Madison H.S. – BASEBALL, Princeton University

Jack Traxler: James, Madison H.S. -  SOCCER: Catholic University

​Various health and wellness professionals will also discuss a variety of important health topics such as the root causes of chronic disease, the importance of movement and stretching, among other topics.

Wellness Talks Featured at GET HEALTHY VIENNA! Expo 2023

Free VBA expo on May 20 spotlights health, wellness, mental health and fitness information and resources.

Vienna, VA – Optimal health and wellness is of major interest to most Americans, and the Vienna Business Association’s (VBA’s) GET HEALTHY VIENNA! Expo on May 20 will feature day-long “Well Talks” that address a broad range of topics that embrace a holistic approach to attaining complete health and wellness. The wellness talks – like Ted Talks for wellness – are a key feature of the expo, which will also include 30 exhibitors whose businesses and organizations provide services, resources and support within the health, wellness, mental health, and fitness space.

 “Achieving wellness involves various aspects of caring for your mind and body, and understanding how both work together in extraordinary ways. Our lineup of Well Talk speakers will address a range of hot topics and issues that aim to help individuals and families more effectively navigate the journey to achieving better health through insightful information, tips and resources,” said VBA Board member and Health, Wellness and Fitness Committee Chair Karen Kerrigan.

Kerrigan noted that May is Mental Health Awareness Month and National Sports and Physical Fitness Month, and the expo’s broad range of exhibitors and speakers tie these two important spheres together. For example, wellness talks include such topics as how ‘text neck’ effects brain performance, avoiding overuse injuries in youth sports, finding the ‘right’ therapist, the brain and performance anxiety, the mind-body connection for wellness, the importance of movement for joint mobility and balance, tips for beating allergies, and more.

“Our local community is blessed with extraordinary individuals who are seasoned experts in their respective health and wellness fields. The expo is an opportunity to learn important, perhaps life-changing information from these individuals whose common mission is to positively transform lives through their practices and work,” said Kerrigan.

The free expo runs from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on May 20 at the Vienna Community Center, and the Well Talks are scheduled every half-hour. VBA to Host Inaugural GET HEALTHY VIENNA! Expo 2023 on May 20

Vienna, VA – The Vienna-Oakton community is rich in businesses and organizations that serve local residents by helping them meet their health, wellness and fitness needs. On May 20, the Vienna Business Association (VBA) will showcase its various members at the inaugural Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2023, one of several initiatives that the newly minted VBA Health, Wellness and Fitness Committee will sponsor in the coming year.

“The VBA’s new committee is dedicated to enhancing the health, wellness and fitness of our community by connecting and promoting the businesses and organizations that provide services, solutions and resources positively transforming people’s lives. Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2023 is a direct way to help community members understand the vast resources that are available to them and their families,” said committee chair Karen Kerrigan.

Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2023 will feature more than 30 exhibitors who will share information about the services, products and solutions that their businesses or organizations provide. The Expo will also include demonstrations, and “Well Talks” throughout the day.

“Our Well Talks will be formatted like Ted Talks, but exclusively focused on wellness. The topics will cover current issues of interest and concern to individuals and parents who want to promote overall wellness in their homes and families,” said Kerrigan.
